PORTFOLIO SAMPLES - UPDATED JANUARY 2021

Gillette Children’s Hospital – Website content development / writing

Client: Dialog Studios

I’ve worked on more healthcare and medical device projects than I can count. But this assignment felt extra special: My audience was parents and caregivers looking for answers and comfort in the devastating circumstances of a child’s illness.

I wrote several of the “Conditions” sections of the site. I’m including one condition here, because they all followed a pretty consistent structure.

Abbott Laboratories – Website content development / writing

Client: Cimarron Winter

After St. Jude Medical merged with Abbott Labs, the Abbott marketing team needed new web content to accompany a brand overhaul. With their updated digital strategy freshly in place, the Cardiovascular business unit brought me in to develop web content for the healthcare professional website relaunch.

I collaborated closely with the UX designer and business unit SMEs to create content that communicates complex medical concepts while allowing for a more dynamic user experience.

US Bank Financial IQ Article Series

Client: MSP Communications

US Bank Financial IQ articles cover financial literacy topics along themes such as buying a car, owning a home and protecting assets. The goal is to give consumers practical tips on improving their financial well-being.

3M Filtrete – Social campaign

Client: MSP Communications

I wrote a number of  blog/social posts for 3M’s air filtration brand, Filtrete. I enjoyed the word-puzzle of writing the full article, then slicing, dicing, tweaking and repurposing the content for Facebook and Twitter. Here are a few posts:

YMCA – Blog series and website revamp

Client: Dialog Studios

Health and fitness are personal passions of mine. I also believe strongly in the racial justice and civic-minded missions of the YMCA. So it was an honor to write a few dozen posts for their blog, as well as to support the sitewide rewrites for the youth classes content (which has since been updated to reflect their latest programs and offerings).

Iconoculture (CEB Global; now Gartner) – Observation Articles (OA)

Client: Iconoculture

My “beat” with Iconoculture was their Generation X and Boomer demographic trend feeds, but I'd occasionally get asked to write for a specific subject, such as money and investing or technology.

Their bite-sized Observation Articles pair perfectly with morning coffee for busy marketing professionals. I enjoyed so much about this assignment, including Iconoculture’s unwavering commitment to their whip-smart brand style and voice. I especially loved the challenge of seeing how much pith, wit and research I could cram into 4-5 snappy bullet points without straying from the editorial formula.

Although the URLs sit behind a member login, I’ve pasted a few examples into a separate document. Please let me know if you’d like to read any of them. For now, here are a few examples of the pieces I wrote:

  • “You’ll have them at halal: Startups woo Muslim Millennials”

  • “Xers give arcade games a second life in trendy bars”

  • “Employers compete with financial advisors for Boomer nest eggs”

  • “Speed of life: Xers (still) keep pace with tech trends”
