UX WRITING & CONTENT STRATEGY

2014-present. Anderson Editorial – UX/Digital Copywriting and Editorial Strategy Consultant

One of my favorite aspects of working as an independent consultant is encountering so many varied approaches to similar content challenges: While it’s important to follow standards of accessibility and digital best practices, there’s no single “right way” to create successful, human-centered content. Each team, each company does things just a bit differently, and that’s part of what keeps this work so interesting.

Whether I’m writing on a blog/social campaign for a single brand or supporting an enterprise-wide content strategy with site audits and competitive analyses, I view each project as a chance to apply my skills and experience in a way that suits the project’s unique set of constraints and opportunities.

I craft content that attracts, inspires, and motivates action. I know the ins and outs of the editorial process and the challenges of architecting a successful online user experience. I help my clients keep their digital content refreshed and relevant, sensibly structured, and communicating clearly with their core audiences.

2005-14. Brain Traffic – Senior Copywriter, Editorial Strategist

As Brain Traffic’s first — and for nearly 2 years, sole — employee, I watched this boutique shop evolve from a scrappy digital copywriting agency to a renowned enterprise content strategy firm of 25. During my 9-year tenure at this powerhouse agency, I worked on hundreds of projects for top-notch clients such as Target, U.S. Bank, UnitedHealthcare, and General Mills.

From 2010-2013, I worked as an embedded content strategist for our biggest international client. It was meant to be a 3-month assignment, but the position wound up being a match made in heaven on both sides. So I moved my life across the ocean to Paris for 3 years. There, I gained invaluable skills and experience supporting a massive, long-term product launch with some extraordinary colleagues who became lifelong friends.
